Pearls naturally form inside the pearl oyster. There are different types of pearls: cultured, freshwater, and simulated. Cultured pearls originate in a controlled environment to assure uniformity. Freshwater pearls are the real thing! Whereas, simulated pearls vary in quality. Pearls can be dyed but natural pearls come in a range of colors. These colors vary from creamy-white to pinkish, gold, blue-grey, and even black.
